		<description>Howard Rheingold is one of last year&#039;s Digital Media and Learning Competition awardees. Here at HASTAC, we have been thrilled with his forum on Seesmic with the HASTAC Scholars. I&#039;m glad you are enjoying it.  This year&#039;s Digital Media and Learning Competition just opened last week and we would love any help in getting the word out! The focus of this year&#039;s Competition is just what Howard is discussing: Participatory Learning.

The second HASTAC/MacArthur Digital Media and Learning Competition is now open! The focus is participatory learning.

Awards will be made in two categories:

Innovation in Participatory Learning Awards support large-scale digital learning projects
$30,000-$250,000

Young Innovator Awards are targeted at 18-25 year olds
$5,000-$30,000

		<description>Leigh, I&#039;m happy to hear I did not put you off. Sometimes I just get over-enthusiastic! One time in a workshop I was leading, one of the participants from France said &quot;oh, this workshop is just too American&quot; or something to that effect, with the side comment that I was too informal. :-)

As to getting down south - yeah, I was bummed too, but there are only so many free days. Maybe next time! (And I sure hope there is a next time. I loved NZ).</description>

		<description>You didn&#039;t put me off! not at all.... I think the kiwi shyness must be rubbing off on my ozzy extroversion.. Bit of a bummer we couldn&#039;t coordinate you down to Dunedin after DEANZ. We had a big (National) meeting about OERs and it would have been good to have you there to share your perspectives.</description>
