Down East - East Boothbay and Mt. Desert Island

After Boston on Friday, we mosied up the coast on Saturday, July 10th. We made a quick stop in Portsmouth NH in search of some fine chocolates I had heard about at Byrne & Carlson. ((603) 559-9778, 121 State Street, Portsmouth, NH.) Wow, the chipolte truffles were wild and wonderful. They also made some of the most incredible malt balls I have ever experienced. It raised the confection to a new level. They also had some lovely chocolate bars with candied flowers. We did not try them, but they were beautiful. I regret I did not take pictures.

We hit Maine and our first stop was Reds Eats in Wiscasset for their legendary lobster rolls. Again, the food disappeared before I could shoot it.

A bit further down the road we spent one night in East Boothbay at the Water's Edge Motel on Linekin Bay.

I like algae. If you follow this blog, you will notice a pattern.
