Appreciative, Inquiry

Appreciative, Inquiry: "A collection of questions to provoke new civic conversations for sustainability and innovation"

This is an interesting blog format. The blog post is a provocative question, the comments are readers' answer.

Nancy: the Appreciative Inquiry Blog would be more useful if it stimulated a flow of commentary. A quick scan of the blog shows very little commentary is being generated.

From the perspective of Appreciative Inquiry - setting the right conditions for collaboration results from framing the right questions in a positive way.

What do you think the AI blog should do to stimulate more "open source" responses?

Most blogs suffer/benefit from "last in - first out" chronological posting - and the AI blog reads like an unedited stream of consciousness.

All blogs could benefit from a structural improvement to the archiving function through which the blog originator synthesises and does editorial cleanup of the archive, providing a map to the blog which gives a meta view of the content, and offers reputational points for great comments.

As an alternative, and a way to stimulate more useful participation, perhaps collaborative filtering done by the readers of the blog could provide something like the Amazon ranking process and offer a better synthesis and navigational tool for bloggers who are serious about using their blog posting as a way to inform, persuade and activate their readers.

I think we should ask the blog owner! Great questions, Dave. The distance between intent and what happens can be great. Or it could be that we don't understand his intent. Maybe he just wants us to think, not respond. I realized after reading your comment, that I never considered that his intent may be different than my assumptions about his intent.

Now I'd like to know more about your ideas like this: "All blogs could benefit from a structural improvement to the archiving function through which the blog originator synthesises and does editorial cleanup of the archive, providing a map to the blog which gives a meta view of the content, and offers reputational points for great comments."

Have you seen any examples? Pointers?
